Maplewood Shooting
Hits way too close to home ...
... I've taken this from the post ...
He was popular among his co-workers when he was a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy, friends said, but Adam Fite seemed to enjoy his new job as a Maplewood police officer.
Relatives and former co-workers said Fite, 28, was one of the two police officers wounded in Maplewood on Monday.
A woman who identified herself as the Arnold man's mother-in-law said he still was in the hospital Monday afternoon. She said his wife, who is pregnant, was at his side.
"He's been shot, but we think he's going to make it," she said.
Fite, a 1998 graduate of Fox High School in Arnold, worked for the Sheriff's Department for about four years, said Capt. Ralph Brown.
Fite spent much of his time with the department working as a school resource officer for the Grandview and Jefferson R-7 school districts.
He spent the 2006-07 school year at the Northwest Valley 7th and 8th Grade Center, said Principal Clint Freeman.
"He was a great officer and related well with the kids, and had a good rapport with the staff," Freeman said.
Former co-workers said Fite left Jefferson County for Maplewood about four months ago. He has friends in that department and saw the move as a good career opportunity.
Fite and his wife caught up with many of his former Jefferson County co-workers at a friend's wedding about a week ago. He told them he was enjoying his new job.
Still, those who knew him in Jefferson County miss having him around.
Tim Crutchley, assistant superintendent of the Fox school district, knew Fite when he was a patrol officer for the department's east zone, which included Ridgewood Middle School, where Crutchley once worked as principal.
"When I saw him walk through the doors, I knew things would be taken care of …"‰," Crutchley said. "He always did the right thing. I hope he's going to be OK."
We don't always understand why bad things happen to good people.
But if you ask me - it's to remind is to take NOTHING for granted!!
To hug our friends and family a little tightier!
Adam we are praying for a fast recovery!
