Connor at Open House
Connor did okay - we have been reading books to him about pre-school and that morning (Wed.) he woke up and the first words out of his mouth were, "I go to school?"
In the hallway waiting for the teacher to open the door I was talking to him about the fun he was going to have and his teachers name and that I would be back to pick him up about lunch time. We had went to open house the 1st of the month and he loved it walked right in the class room and didn't look back, of course went straight for the toys. I really didn't think pre-school would be to big of an adjustment for him just because I have a rec center membership and he plays in the kids club while I work out. Which I did for numorous reasons; One for me but also so he could also learn to play with other children. So not only is he with me and dad and the grandparents he also trusts the kids clubs people. The night at Open House the teacher said she has been biten, kicked, hair pulled that it's best to give a hig and kiss and tell them you will see them about lunch time and walk away. Which is what I was explaining to him in the hallway but he started to cry saying he wanted to go with me! When it came his turn to go into the class room, the teacher greeted him and showed him where to hang his bookbag, and I tried to walk away then, but he caught me and the teacher said it was okay to walk him to his chair so I did and gave him another hug and kiss and tried to leave again and he wouldn't let go of me and the teacher said she got it so I walked away like she said. I know he'd be fine - it was hard but I did it. I didn't want to make things worse. As I left I peeked in the window(I got that idea from the teacher) and he was sitting in his chair crying just like half the other kids were. I did fine till I called Jeff - then I cried. But when I went to pick him up later standing in the hallway talking to one of the other mom's she said did anyone else get a call from the director and I was like no, I even made sure to keeo my phone close. Her child had a major melt down, peed in his pants and wouldn't change his pants! So a little crying is way better than that. When he came out of the classroom he gave me a big hug and showed me a red heart that had been stamped on his hand. He wouldn't talk about what he did or anything we went and got McDonald's. And I tried asking questions and got no details, was your teacher nice ... yes, what's you do ... nothing, did you learn anything ... no, is there anything you want to tell me about pre-school ... no. He was tried! We ate lunch and after nap he told me that pequins eat fish and they clean themselves with their beaks and it's called pluming or something, and he had pretzels for a snack. He was even singing the itsy, bitsy, spider song. He isn't much of a singer so that was cute. I can't wait to hear what else he comes home with =)
So wednesday this week I went in to talk to the teacher just to say hi and she what she had to say ... and I wanted to tell her about the pequin thing! Well come to find out she didn't read a book or anything about pequins. She said they talked about everyone's favorite animals but nothing like what he said. Lord knows where he picked that up! LOL
